Saudi Cranes previously had a license agreement with Konecranes which required Saudi Cranes to expand its manufacturing plant to an additional 2,600 sq m. to add manufacturing equipment such as CNC plasma profile cutting machine, automatic web and seam welding machine, new paint booth.

Saudi Cranes has an international presence serving the oil, petrochemical and gas, steel, process and power industries.

Pierre Boyer, senior vice president at Konecranes, said that the company based its decision on growth in the Saudi Arabian overhead crane market. “The acquisition of Saudi Cranes will give Konecranes the opportunity to strengthen its position in the important Saudi Arabian market, which is witnessing significant growth in major industries.”

Boyer continued, “Thousands of overhead cranes have been sold in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to date. These form an excellent base for establishing and developing services to the Saudi Arabian market.”
