Hong Kong International Terminals (HIT) has signed an agreement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Machinery Technology Corporation (MHIMT) to install remote-control operations for the 29 RTGs at Container Terminal 9. The project is the first of its kind outside of
Japan.
HIT expects the first batch of its
remote control RTGs to be in operation by the end of next year, with the full project expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2015.
Mitsubishi first provided HIT with bridge cranes and subsequently rail-mounted gantry cranes nearly 25 years ago.
