Dongqi Crane today shares with you a case of a customized crane for a mattress manufacturer. In order to cope with the complex working environment, the order includes a
jib crane and a single-girder
overhead crane. Installation challenges included figuring out the best way to fit the crane into a tall building (without using the entire height) and how to secure a single crane in a way that would fit within the room. Due to limited workshop space, individual components of the crane may be obstructed during transportation and handling. Special attention needs to be paid to safely and efficiently transporting components to their installation location and avoiding damage to components or equipment during handling.

The first crane was a column jib crane with a capacity of 250 kg, equipped with an
electric chain hoist and radio controller. It was chosen because of its 360° unlimited electric slew function for maximum mobility.
The second crane is a single light crane solution with a capacity of 250kg and a track length of 9.5m. It also has a carrying capacity of 250kg and comes with an electric chain hoist and radio controller.
“This [monocoque] crane is a good option in tight spaces where the rails/rails can be tied off the existing building and using struts on the ground – it’s a great solution scheme because we don’t need to use part of the total height of the building,”
Both cranes use electric chain hoists with a lifting speed of 2/8m per minute, a lifting height of 5m and a working load limit (WLL) of 250kg, plus an electric trolley.

How to install an overhead crane in a small workshop
Installing an overhead crane in a workshop with limited space is indeed a challenging task. Here are some possible methods for reference:
Modular installation: The overhead crane is broken down into smaller modules or components, transported separately to the workshop, and assembled on site. This method can reduce the space occupied during installation and facilitate operation in small spaces.
Pre-plan the path: Before installation, carefully measure and plan the space in the workshop to determine the installation path of the crane. Make sure to avoid obstacles and make full use of limited space during transportation and installation.
Use professional equipment and tools: Use professional handling equipment and tools, such as forklifts, pulleys, etc., to assist in the handling and installation of the crane. These devices can reduce the workload of manual handling and improve installation efficiency.
Enhanced safety measures: Pay special attention to safety when installing overhead cranes in small spaces. Warning signs and guardrails can be set up to ensure safety during the installation process. At the same time, professional training is provided to operators to improve their safety awareness.
Consider temporary structures: If necessary, temporary structures, such as support frames, platforms, etc., can be erected in the workshop to provide additional installation space or operating platforms. These temporary structures can be dismantled after installation.
Please note that the specific conditions of each workshop and the model and specification of the crane may be different, so in actual operation, it is necessary to choose a suitable installation method according to the specific situation. At the same time, be sure to comply with relevant safety regulations and operating specifications to ensure a safe and smooth installation process.
