Recently, Peter Gakinovsky, former editor in chief of the Polish Tribune, published a signed article entitled “Bridge between China and Europe – Poland” in the Polish mainstream media Tribune, which was warmly received by the local people.

In the article, Peter gajinowski said that the “the Belt and Road” initiative has brought Poland a new historical opportunity to give full play to its geographical superiority. Because it is located in the center of Central and Eastern Europe, Poland has always been a bridge between Eastern and Western civilizations in Europe, as well as between Scandinavia in Northern Europe and the Balkans in Southern Europe. With the advancement of the “the Belt and Road” initiative, Poland will become a bridge between Asian economies and the EU.

He wrote as an example: “On the New Year’s Day of 2012, Mr. Tomash Gererlac, the chairman of the Hartlands Company in Poland, spent his time in Malashevik, a railway hub near the border between Poland and Belarus. That was when he saw the first train from Chengdu, China, carrying 41 containers, and Hartlands Company was also the carrier of this train. Previously, in Malashevik, there were also frequent trains from China China’s containers are cleared here, but never in the form of a whole train. Because of this, Tomash Gererak believes that a regular freight channel should be opened to travel between Poland and China. ”

He mentioned that “under normal circumstances, it will take at least 45 days to deliver the goods from China to Europe by sea. In case of port congestion or being stuck somewhere, it may take two months. Therefore, it is imperative to find a third way out of cheap but long sea transportation and fast but expensive air transportation.”

Peter gakinowski said in his article that with the “the Belt and Road” initiative put forward by Chinese leaders, relevant trains have sprung up like mushrooms, and more and more carriers are beginning to notice this new railway transport channel.

“At present, the China EU train runs to stations in more than 20 European countries. On August 29, 2021, based on good infrastructure, Malashevich ‘received’ 18 inbound and 15 outbound trains at the same time, creating a record.”

He pointed out in the article that the “the Belt and Road” initiative can bring great opportunities to Poland and give full play to its geographical advantages. He wrote: “These are probably the reasons why Poland invested and built in Malashevich with the whole nation’s strength. It is a large Eurasian trade center, a transshipment hub and a distribution center for goods transportation, as well as a storage center and logistics center for goods to be sold to European countries.”

“The port of Malashevich will be built into a facility that can accommodate 55 pairs of trains per day, which is three times larger than the current one. At that time, it will become the largest and most important transshipment hub in Europe. According to preliminary estimates, the construction capital of the project will reach 3 billion zloty, which will be jointly funded by the Polish national budget and EU funds.”

In an interview, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland, Anjay Bitter, said that the project is crucial to the economic development of eastern Poland and the whole of Poland, and Poland is full of confidence in the completion of the project.

Tribune is a national mainstream newspaper in Poland, with a circulation of more than 20000. In 2019, the Polish Tribune joined the “the Belt and Road” economic information sharing network. The network was initiated by Xinhua news agency. Up to now, the “the Belt and Road” economic information sharing network has covered 31 countries and regions, and its members include 47 news agencies, information service institutions, research institutions and business associations. The network aims to realize information exchange, information sharing and information distribution, and promote economic exchanges and cooperation among countries and regions jointly building the “the Belt and Road” with information services as the guide.
