Designed, manufactured and supplied by Vietnam Steel Structures and Lifting Equipments (Vinalift) and currently celebrating its second birthday, the machine shop crane supports periodic maintenance activities at the power plant to ensure that the thermal power plant operates continuously and provides a stable power source.
It spans 23.2m and has a lifting height of 25m. The main hook can lift loads of up to 80 tons and has a lifting speed of 0.5~1.5m/min, while an auxiliary hook offers a capacity of 20 tons.
The crane is made up of part from various providers including Siemens (lifting motor), Sumitomo (lifting gearbox, electric winch), Mitsubishi (programmable logic controller, inverter) and Schneider (safety system).
The Thai Binh 1 thermal power plant has been in operation since 2018 and an 80/20-ton machine gantry crane from a different manufacturer was installed initially. To guarantee that routine equipment maintenance is focused and timely, the factory decided to invest in the additional 80/20-ton unit from Vinalift. The factory put the second crane into operation immediately after the installation was completed in October 2021.
The Thai Binh 1 Thermal Power Plant is a 600MW coal-fired steam turbine power project located in Thai Binh in northern Vietnam. The project began construction in 2016 and entered into commercial operation in January 2018. It was developed by Marubeni and is currently owned by Vietnam Electricity, according to data firm Global Data, and generates 3,600,000MWh of electricity. Other contractors involved in the project included Fuji Electric and Amec Foster Wheeler.
Vinalift designs and manufactures
lifting equipment and was established in 2006.
In April this year, the Vietnamese prime minister attended the inauguration of the Thai Binh 2 thermal power plant, a 1,200MW coal-fired power project – made up of two 600MW coal-fired units – that began construction in 2011.
