Usually I'm just using some local blogs/ info resources of where I'm planning to go.
For example, in TX I made sure to spend some time at outdoor gun ranges shooting some targets with locals(50round drum for Ruger 10/22 magazine like https://gritrsports.com/shooting/firearm-parts/magazines/ruger-10-22-magazines/ is SO MUCH FUN :D )
