DP World has ordered 14 Kalmar automatic stacking cranes and 14 Kalmar one-over-one shuttle carriers for the Port of Brisbane in
Australia.
Cargotec aims to fulfill the order with deliveries in 2013 and early 2014.
DP World decided on Cargotec partially because of the company’s existing relationship with the firm.
Director and general manager for DP World Brisbane, Mark Hulme, explained that Cargotec is already listed as the company’s preferred partner to supply 28 Kalmar shuttle carriers, 40 Kalmar automatic stacking cranes and related technology for DP World’s London Gateway project in the
UK.
He said: “We are expanding our terminal in Brisbane through the development of new yard area, and decided to opt for automatic stacking cranes and manual shuttle carriers to maximise the capacity and efficiency, focused on the growing needs of our customers.
“We have a long relationship with Cargotec and have always been pleased with their expertise and the quality of their equipment and solutions. In the end, to select Cargotec as our preferred supplier was a natural choice, especially given there will be similar operating equipment at the London Gateway project.”
